Most modern cars use DOT 4 in their braking system and on some vehicles the same fluid is used in the operation of the clutch. Over time brake fluid will absorb moisture resulting in a 'spongy' brake pedal so it is very important to follow your vechicle's service scehdule and regulary change the brake fluid.
